Miners Discover Giant Jade Boulder Worth £140m
Miners in Burma have discovered a giant boulder-sized Jade rock worth £140million.
Weighing 175 tonnes and measuring 9ft high and 18ft long, this is one of the world’s most valuable pieces of Jade.
The miners were searching for rare gems at a remote mine in Kachin state when they made the whooping discovery.
This Jade piece is second only to the carved statue at the Jade Buddha Palace in China which weighs a whopping 260 tonnes.
According to reports, Burma is the world’s largest producer of Jadeite and gets half its GDP from the $50 billion a year industry
The piece will soon be sent to China where it would be cut into smaller, wearable or sizable pieces as jewelries or sculptures.
